The Power of Discomfort

March 6, 2018

My preschooler has very little tolerance for any kind of discomfort.

Hunger.

Thirst.

A scraped knee.

It's always the end of the world.

Brooke Castillo has said the following: "Discomfort is the currency for success."

I love that.

It's uncomfortable tearing our muscles down while lifting weights.

But the result is successfully strengthening our bodies.

It's uncomfortable changing your unhealthy eating habits to lose weight.

But the result is a healthier body.

Putting yourself out in the world, pursuing your dreams, risking failure...all of that is so uncomfortable.

But is there any other path to success?

I haven't found one.

What would happen if you used failure as a way to learn?

And that you didn't make it mean something about your value and worth?

Now go fail over and over and learn from all your mistakes along the way.

It will be so uncomfortable.

You can totally handle uncomfortable.
